LC Feature – February 2009: Dinosaur Feathers

Imagine if Prince Eric had fallen off his boat on the night of that raucous party, and Ariel had been given the chance to invite him into her world instead. With access to a treasure-trove of snarfblatts and dinglehoppers, as well as a chorus of mermaidens, he could have left the princedom for the chance to make pop music: underwater style. Melding old-timey harmonies and rhythms salvaged from the billowy depths of Davey Jones’ locker, Dinosaur Feathers is kind of like that.

Christopher Raiche stopped teaching philosophy and religion in his mid-twenties to form “guitarmusic,” the alias under which he writes and performs his contemplative and passionately sung songs. A collection of introspective home-recordings he calls “happy death songs” is up for a listen at his myspace…

“I’m an Iowan born and raised currently living in Brooklyn, NY. During my college years, I took a year off to go to guitar school in Hollywood. I lived with a Norweigan named Jardar. Musician’s institute was more like the school of rock meets high school than a college… but it was quite amazing none the less.

LC 3 Year Anniversary at Rockwood Music Hall

Come out to Rockwood Music Hall on Monday, January 26th from 6pm – 3am and help us celebrate the 3 Year Anniversary of the LC Rockwood Residency.

The Local Correspondents series is the longest running regular event at Rockwood Music Hall and it is a testament to the strength and talent of our community of performers.

We are so excited to present over 30 outstanding performers all in one evening! Everyone will be performing a few songs open mic style. Free admission!
