Dustin Edge

Born and raised in Louisville, KY, Dustin Edge was influenced during his childhood by indie-rock heroes such as Slint and Fugazi. After performing in a myriad of punk rock bands during his middle and high school years, he shifted gears during college to form Cast Iron Filter, a bluegrass-rock band that toured the East Coast club circuit for three years before disbanding in 2004.
Disillusioned with life on the road, he moved to the Czech Republic in 2006 to teach for two years. During his tenure abroad, he accepted an offer to play a weekly show in the café of a local hostel. Reawakened to his love of performing, he moved back to the United States in 2008 to recommit himself to his music career.
A Forest Through The Trees represents his debut release. Filled with driving rhythms and captivating melodies, A Forest Through The Trees presents rich layers of instrumentation within up-tempo, energetic compositions that appeal as much to hard rock aficionados as they do to devotees of indie pop and punk. Succinct and to-the-point, this competent and intriguing debut is capable of seducing listeners with its red-letter hooks, pensive lyrics, and exceptional production.
Inspired by artists as wide-ranging as Uncle Tupelo, King Crimson, David Byrne, Neutral Milk Hotel, Steve Earle, The Magnetic Fields, and Public Enemy, Dustin Edge is attempting to extend the boundaries of traditional pop music. “Although it’s very early in my career, I’m confident that each subsequent release will strive to be separate and different from its predecessors,” he says. “I’m constantly trying to explore new approaches to songwriting that are different and improve upon what I’ve done in the past. Above all, I want to continually evolve as a songwriter and a performer.”
