Sometimes I think that Kelli Rae Powell has somehow stumbled out of America’s past, a bombshell torch singer with a ukulele… but then I listen to her lyrics and she reminds me that her mind is anything but old-fashioned. It’s a charming mixture of impressions, and added to it is a live performance that walks the line between technical beauty and unrestrained passion.
