Debbie Miller
Biography
Debbie Miller wrote her first song 3 years ago while at work, and she hasn’t stopped since. Classically trained on the piano, she taught herself how to play the guitar during college upon realizing it was possible to own an instrument you can carry around. When she got booked for her first gig, she did not have enough songs to fill up an entire set, so she wrote a bunch more – one of those songs was “Snippets From a Bathroom Stall.” Since then, Debbie has been writing and performing all over New York City. She finds inspiration in small moments and thoughts, and also in situations that are real and/or fabricated. Some songs are funny and some aren’t, because as human beings sometimes we are funny… and sometimes we just aren’t.
A little over a year ago, Debbie was approached by producer/sound engineer Greg Coladarci at the Bar 4 open mic to record her song “Tippy Toe” (a song about sweetly and subtly slipping into the subconscious of a crush – where she innocently adds she would beat up any other girls who would try the same thing). That recording was the beginning of something special. Fast-forwarding to the present (bypassing many hours of recording, Chinese take-out, and playing with Greg’s cat Sammy), she is extremely proud to release her debut album this spring, Fake Love.
